6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

7 | 7 | | recognize the Texas School District Police Chiefs' Association, |

8 | 8 | | which has provided invaluable support and guidance to school |

9 | 9 | | district police departments over the course of more than |
---|
10 | 10 | | two-and-a-half decades; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The organization traces its origins back to 1996, |
---|
12 | 12 | | when school district police chiefs in the Houston area began |
---|
13 | 13 | | holding informal meetings to discuss issues related to their |
---|
14 | 14 | | profession; the group established the Southeast Texas School |
---|
15 | 15 | | District Police Chiefs Association in 1997, and the following |
---|
16 | 16 | | year, the organization hosted its first annual training |
---|
17 | 17 | | conference; in 2001, the organization's name was changed to the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Texas School District Police Chiefs' Association to reflect its |
---|
19 | 19 | | mission to promote the statewide standardization of school |
---|
20 | 20 | | district policing; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Today, the association benefits from the able |
---|
22 | 22 | | guidance of its executive board, which includes president |
---|
23 | 23 | | Solomon Cook, first vice president Bill Avera, second vice |
---|
24 | 24 | | president Kirby Warnke, third vice president Charles McDuffie, |
---|
25 | 25 | | fourth vice president Paul Cordova, immediate past president |
---|
26 | 26 | | David Kimberly, treasurer Jimmy Womack, and secretary Alan |
---|
27 | 27 | | Bragg; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Through its visionary leadership, the Texas |
---|
29 | 29 | | School District Police Chiefs' Association is helping to ensure |
---|
30 | 30 | | the safety of students, faculty, and staff in school districts |
---|
31 | 31 | | across the state, and it is a pleasure to recognize the |
---|
32 | 32 | | organization for its outstanding record of service; now, |
---|
33 | 33 | | therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
35 | 35 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Texas School District Police |
---|
36 | 36 | | Chiefs' Association on the organization's exemplary service on |
---|
37 | 37 | | behalf of Texas school district police departments and extend to |
---|
38 | 38 | | its members sincere best wishes for continued success in their |

39 | 39 | | important work; and, be it further |

40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
