55 SENATE RESOLUTION
66 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
77 recognize the Texas School District Police Chiefs' Association,
88 which has provided invaluable support and guidance to school
99 district police departments over the course of more than
1010 two-and-a-half decades; and
1111 WHEREAS, The organization traces its origins back to 1996,
1212 when school district police chiefs in the Houston area began
1313 holding informal meetings to discuss issues related to their
1414 profession; the group established the Southeast Texas School
1515 District Police Chiefs Association in 1997, and the following
1616 year, the organization hosted its first annual training
1717 conference; in 2001, the organization's name was changed to the
1818 Texas School District Police Chiefs' Association to reflect its
1919 mission to promote the statewide standardization of school
2020 district policing; and
2121 WHEREAS, Today, the association benefits from the able
2222 guidance of its executive board, which includes president
2323 Solomon Cook, first vice president Bill Avera, second vice
2424 president Kirby Warnke, third vice president Charles McDuffie,
2525 fourth vice president Paul Cordova, immediate past president
2626 David Kimberly, treasurer Jimmy Womack, and secretary Alan
2727 Bragg; and
2828 WHEREAS, Through its visionary leadership, the Texas
2929 School District Police Chiefs' Association is helping to ensure
3030 the safety of students, faculty, and staff in school districts
3131 across the state, and it is a pleasure to recognize the
3232 organization for its outstanding record of service; now,
3333 therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3535 Legislature, hereby commend the Texas School District Police
3636 Chiefs' Association on the organization's exemplary service on
3737 behalf of Texas school district police departments and extend to
3838 its members sincere best wishes for continued success in their
3939 important work; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4141 prepared for the Texas School District Police Chiefs'
4242 Association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
