66 WHEREAS, The members of Dove Springs Proud have demonstrated
77 an admirable commitment to civic engagement; and
88 WHEREAS, Formed in October 2013 by Ricardo Zavala, Dove
99 Springs Proud serves the more than 3,000 Austinites living in the
1010 Dove Springs area; the group is dedicated to the betterment of the
1111 neighborhood, with projects ranging from a youth summit and a voter
1212 registration drive to endorsement forums for political candidates;
1313 and
1414 WHEREAS, This noteworthy organization strives to highlight
1515 the contributions of local residents, and its 950 members work
1616 tirelessly to encourage participation in civic life and to ensure
1717 that the voices of all stakeholders are heard; moreover, they
1818 promote the involvement of area youth, including the Widén
1919 Elementary School Wildcats, in such issues as health care, criminal
2020 justice, and education; and
2121 WHEREAS, The vitality of a community depends in large measure
2222 on the vision and dedication of concerned citizens, and through
2323 their endeavors, the members of Dove Springs Proud are making a
2424 positive difference in their neighborhood; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
2626 hereby commend the members of Dove Springs Proud for their
2727 contributions and extend to all those associated with the
2828 organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Dove Springs Proud as an expression of high regard by
3131 the Texas Senate.
