| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The members of Dove Springs Proud have demonstrated |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Formed in October 2013 by Ricardo Zavala, Dove |

| 9 | 9 | | Springs Proud serves the more than 3,000 Austinites living in the |

| 10 | 10 | | Dove Springs area; the group is dedicated to the betterment of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | neighborhood, with projects ranging from a youth summit and a voter |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | registration drive to endorsement forums for political candidates; |

| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This noteworthy organization strives to highlight |

| 15 | 15 | | the contributions of local residents, and its 950 members work |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | tirelessly to encourage participation in civic life and to ensure |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | that the voices of all stakeholders are heard; moreover, they |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | promote the involvement of area youth, including the Widén |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Elementary School Wildcats, in such issues as health care, criminal |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | justice, and education; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The vitality of a community depends in large measure |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | on the vision and dedication of concerned citizens, and through |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | their endeavors, the members of Dove Springs Proud are making a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | positive difference in their neighborhood; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |

| 26 | 26 | | hereby commend the members of Dove Springs Proud for their |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | contributions and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
