55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort
77 those saddened by the passing of Mollie Jeanette Upton of Longview
88 on August 25, 2022, at the age of 66; and
99 WHEREAS, The former Mollie Smith was born to Euel and Marlena
1010 Smith in Bronte on June 4, 1956, and she grew up with the
1111 companionship of seven siblings, Barbara, James, Mike, Patricia,
1212 Gary, Richard, and Steve; she moved with her family to White Oak,
1313 where she later graduated from White Oak High School, and she went
1414 on to earn an associate's degree from Kilgore College; and
1515 WHEREAS, On November 19, 1976, she married Paul Upton, with
1616 whom she shared a fulfilling union that spanned more than 45 years;
1717 she took great pride in her three children, Dustin, Dexter, and
1818 Dakota, and with the passing years, she had the pleasure of seeing
1919 her family grow to include her two grandchildren, Luke and Chase;
2020 and
2121 WHEREAS, Mrs. Upton enjoyed a rewarding career as a letter
2222 carrier for the United States Postal Service for more than 25 years,
2323 and she made many lasting friendships with her colleagues and
2424 customers; in her leisure hours, she loved playing games, camping
2525 with her family, and cheering for her children as they played
2626 various sports; a woman of deep faith, she was a valued congregant
2727 of White Oak United Methodist Church; and
2828 WHEREAS, Although her loss is difficult to bear, Mollie Upton
2929 leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far
3030 richer for having known her, and they will forever hold her close in
3131 their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
3333 hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mollie Jeanette Upton and extend
3434 sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3636 prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
3737 day, it do so in memory of Mollie Upton.
