| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Juandelle Wainscott Lacy Roberts of Midland |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | celebrated her 95th birthday on January 23, 2023, and this occasion |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | provides a welcome opportunity for family and friends to express |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the love and affection they hold for her; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The former Juandelle Wainscott was born in 1928 to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the Reverend and Mrs. C. E. Wainscott in Quitaque; in 1945, she was |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | joined in matrimony to James W. Lacy, and she became the proud |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | mother of two children; following Mr. Lacy's death, she was |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | fortunate enough to find love again and married W. V. "Red" Roberts, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | with whom she shared a fulfilling union that spanned nearly two |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | decades until his passing in 2020; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of her life, Mrs. Roberts has |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | established a number of important philanthropic initiatives, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | including the Excalibur Round Table that benefits cancer research, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | a school for Romani children in Romania, the Wainscott-Lacy |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Memorial Fund scholarship program for students at Baptist schools, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and an engineering scholarship for students at Texas Tech |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | University; she is a longtime national board member of the American |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Cancer Society and a recipient of the Lifetime Excalibur Award for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | her generosity; in addition, she has supported a number of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | symphonies, as well as Baptist and other evangelical missionary |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | work across the Americas, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, An active member of the Texas Federation of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Republican Women for 65 years, Mrs. Roberts has served on its board |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and has been honored by the organization with the First Legacy |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Leadership Award, the Ten Outstanding Women Award, and the Tribute |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | to Women Award; moreover, she has worked in behalf of the Republican |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Party in three states, serving as chair of the Tulsa County group, |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | and she mentored a young George W. Bush when he first ran for state |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | office; and |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Respected and admired by all who are privileged to |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | know her, Juandelle Roberts may reflect with great satisfaction on |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | a lifetime of achievement, and it is a pleasure to join her many |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | friends and loved ones in honoring her on this memorable occasion; |
