2	2	WHEREAS, Dr. Bobby Ott of the Temple Independent School
3	3	District has been named the 2022 Superintendent of the Year by
4	4	the Texas Association of School Boards; and
5	5	WHEREAS, Dr. Ott earned his bachelor's and master's degrees
6	6	at Angelo State University and his doctorate at The University of
7	7	Texas at Austin, and he began his career as a coach, teacher, and
8	8	principal in Round Rock and Anson; after serving as director of
9	9	statewide initiatives for the Texas Education Agency and
10	10	director of literacy initiatives for the UT System, he was deputy
11	11	superintendent in Copperas Cove and Killeen before joining
12	12	Temple ISD in 2012 as assistant superintendent of curriculum and
13	13	instruction; during his nearly six-year tenure in this position,
14	14	he helped to greatly improve the district's ratings with the
15	15	state accountability system; and
16	16	WHEREAS, Since becoming Temple's superintendent in April
17	17	2018, Dr. Ott has demonstrated remarkable drive, energy, and
18	18	initiative; his excellent working relationship with the board of
19	19	trustees helped the board win recognition as 2019-2020 Region 12
20	20	School Board of the Year, and under his leadership, the district
21	21	has received national awards for two years in a row for fiscal
22	22	transparency and stewardship from the Government Finance
23	23	Officers Association and ASBO International; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Dr. Ott also demonstrated remarkable leadership
25	25	during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he oversaw the successful
26	26	passage of a $164.8 million bond package for the district in
27	27	2022; he presents an annual overview of the district to civic
28	28	groups and other stakeholders across the community, and he sends
29	29	out a monthly digital newsletter, Ott's Outlook, to more than
30	30	5,000 subscribers; and
31	31	WHEREAS, In addition to his professional responsibilities,
32	32	Dr. Ott finds time to give back to his community as a board member
33	33	of Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, the Temple Economic
34	34	Development Corporation, the Temple Chamber of Commerce, McLane
35	35	Children's Medical Center, the Temple Education Foundation, and
36	36	the State Advisory Council of the Texas Music Educators
37	37	Association, among other groups; in all his endeavors, he
38	38	benefits from the love and support of his wife, Nicole, and his
39	39	two daughters, Jordan and Tatum; and
40	40	WHEREAS, Through his unwavering dedication to area
41	41	students and staff, Bobby Ott has led the way in fostering a
42	42	supportive and challenging educational environment, and he has
43	43	made valuable contributions to advancing public education in the
44	44	Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
45	45	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
46	46	Legislature, hereby congratulate Dr. Bobby Ott on being
47	47	recognized as TASB's 2022 Superintendent of the Year and extend
48	48	to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his important
49	49	work; and, be it further
50	50	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
51	51	prepared for Dr. Ott as an expression of high regard from the
52	52	Texas Senate.
