6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
---|
7 | 7 | | commemorates the remarkable life of Tammy Ruth Armbruster, who |
---|
8 | 8 | | died on December 31, 2022, at the age of 56; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Tammy Armbruster was born on January 13, 1966, in |
---|
10 | 10 | | Belleville, Illinois; a capable and intelligent young woman, |
---|
11 | 11 | | Tammy graduated from Highland Park High School in Chicago and |
---|
12 | 12 | | went on to earn a degree in criminal justice from Savannah State |
---|
13 | 13 | | College; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, While attending college in 1986, Tammy enlisted |
---|
15 | 15 | | in the United States Marine Corps Reserve; she served for five |
---|
16 | 16 | | years in the reserve before transferring to active duty and |
---|
17 | 17 | | serving two years in Okinawa, Japan, and after completing her |
---|
18 | 18 | | tour of duty, she was assigned to Twentynine Palms, California; |
---|
19 | 19 | | and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, While stationed in California, Tammy met Steve |
---|
21 | 21 | | Armbruster, and they were married soon after in 1995; the |
---|
22 | 22 | | following year, Tammy retired from her military career as a |
---|
23 | 23 | | decorated sergeant, and the couple settled in Austin; at the |
---|
24 | 24 | | conclusion of her military service, Tammy had received numerous |
---|
25 | 25 | | accolades, including a National Defense Medal, a Meritorious |
---|
26 | 26 | | Unit Commendation, and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Tammy and Steve became active members of their |
---|
28 | 28 | | community in Austin, where they joined the congregation of House |
---|
29 | 29 | | of the Lord Fellowship Church; Tammy was devoted to serving her |
---|
30 | 30 | | church community, and she worked in the church's bookstore and |
---|
31 | 31 | | nursery and helped to lead its guardian program, children's |
---|
32 | 32 | | church, and Sunday classes; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Tammy and Steve were blessed with a son and a |
---|
34 | 34 | | daughter, who were a source of immeasurable pride and joy in |
---|
35 | 35 | | Tammy's life; she devoted herself to homeschooling her children, |
---|
36 | 36 | | and she became a trusted mentor other mothers in her community; |
---|
37 | 37 | | she volunteered her time to assist and supervise during public |
---|
38 | 38 | | elections, and she cofounded the Georgetown Vacation Liberty |
---|
39 | 39 | | School, a summer camp program designed to teach young people |
---|
40 | 40 | | about responsible citizenship; and |
---|
41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, Tammy was a source of inspiration to her friends |
---|
42 | 42 | | and family through her courage, grace, and unwavering faith; she |
---|
43 | 43 | | served her country with distinction and gave generously of her |
---|
44 | 44 | | time to help others; left to cherish her memory are her children, |
---|
45 | 45 | | Tara and William, her loving husband of 27 years, Steve, her |
---|
46 | 46 | | siblings, numerous extended family members, and countless others |
---|
47 | 47 | | who were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
48 | 48 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
49 | 49 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
50 | 50 | | family of Tammy Ruth Armbruster; and, be it further |
---|
51 | 51 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
52 | 52 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
53 | 53 | | Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
---|
54 | 54 | | memory of Tammy Ruth Armbruster. |
