55 SENATE RESOLUTION
66 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
77 commemorates the remarkable life of Tammy Ruth Armbruster, who
88 died on December 31, 2022, at the age of 56; and
99 WHEREAS, Tammy Armbruster was born on January 13, 1966, in
1010 Belleville, Illinois; a capable and intelligent young woman,
1111 Tammy graduated from Highland Park High School in Chicago and
1212 went on to earn a degree in criminal justice from Savannah State
1313 College; and
1414 WHEREAS, While attending college in 1986, Tammy enlisted
1515 in the United States Marine Corps Reserve; she served for five
1616 years in the reserve before transferring to active duty and
1717 serving two years in Okinawa, Japan, and after completing her
1818 tour of duty, she was assigned to Twentynine Palms, California;
1919 and
2020 WHEREAS, While stationed in California, Tammy met Steve
2121 Armbruster, and they were married soon after in 1995; the
2222 following year, Tammy retired from her military career as a
2323 decorated sergeant, and the couple settled in Austin; at the
2424 conclusion of her military service, Tammy had received numerous
2525 accolades, including a National Defense Medal, a Meritorious
2626 Unit Commendation, and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; and
2727 WHEREAS, Tammy and Steve became active members of their
2828 community in Austin, where they joined the congregation of House
2929 of the Lord Fellowship Church; Tammy was devoted to serving her
3030 church community, and she worked in the church's bookstore and
3131 nursery and helped to lead its guardian program, children's
3232 church, and Sunday classes; and
3333 WHEREAS, Tammy and Steve were blessed with a son and a
3434 daughter, who were a source of immeasurable pride and joy in
3535 Tammy's life; she devoted herself to homeschooling her children,
3636 and she became a trusted mentor other mothers in her community;
3737 she volunteered her time to assist and supervise during public
3838 elections, and she cofounded the Georgetown Vacation Liberty
3939 School, a summer camp program designed to teach young people
4040 about responsible citizenship; and
4141 WHEREAS, Tammy was a source of inspiration to her friends
4242 and family through her courage, grace, and unwavering faith; she
4343 served her country with distinction and gave generously of her
4444 time to help others; left to cherish her memory are her children,
4545 Tara and William, her loving husband of 27 years, Steve, her
4646 siblings, numerous extended family members, and countless others
4747 who were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
4848 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
4949 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
5050 family of Tammy Ruth Armbruster; and, be it further
5151 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
5252 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
5353 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
5454 memory of Tammy Ruth Armbruster.
