6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

7 | 7 | | recognize Dave Erickson, who is retiring as director of the |
---|
8 | 8 | | Angelo State University Small Business Development Center after |
---|
9 | 9 | | 24 years of outstanding service with the organization; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Dave Erickson joined the Angelo State University |
---|
11 | 11 | | Small Business Development Center as a business advisor in 1999 |
---|
12 | 12 | | after having previously served in business management and |
---|
13 | 13 | | development positions throughout the preceding decades; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Dave's expertise and strong management skills led |
---|
15 | 15 | | him to be named the director of the Angelo State University Small |
---|
16 | 16 | | Business Development Center in 2005; throughout his tenure, he |
---|
17 | 17 | | has been dedicated to guiding the center in its operations, which |
---|
18 | 18 | | include providing business advising, workshops, and training |
---|
19 | 19 | | services to thousands of small business owners and novice |
---|
20 | 20 | | entrepreneurs in the 10-county area of the Concho Valley; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, An accomplished leader in business management, |
---|
22 | 22 | | Dave has been an instrumental force in promoting economic |
---|
23 | 23 | | development in San Angelo, and he has been an invaluable asset on |
---|
24 | 24 | | the Angelo State University campus; the responsibilities of his |
---|
25 | 25 | | role have ranged from hosting training seminars to delivering |
---|
26 | 26 | | university lectures, and he has shared his extensive knowledge |
---|
27 | 27 | | and experience in business management to benefit others and to |
---|
28 | 28 | | improve his community; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Dependable and innovative in the face of |
---|
30 | 30 | | challenge and uncertainty, Dave took preemptive action against |
---|
31 | 31 | | the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the business community by |
---|
32 | 32 | | creating the San Angelo Area COVID-19 Task Force; this effort |
---|
33 | 33 | | allowed the center to provide critical information and guidance |
---|
34 | 34 | | to small businesses through a virtual hub, which helped to ensure |
---|
35 | 35 | | their survival in a challenging economic climate when many |
---|
36 | 36 | | businesses closed; and |
---|
37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Respected and admired by his colleagues for his |
---|
38 | 38 | | excellent leadership, uncompromising work ethic, and strength of |
---|
39 | 39 | | character, Dave has served as a trusted mentor and advisor to |
---|
40 | 40 | | numerous individuals throughout his career, and he has played an |
---|
41 | 41 | | integral role in helping countless Texans and Texas businesses to |
---|
42 | 42 | | succeed and thrive; now, therefore, be it |
---|
43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
44 | 44 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dave Erickson on his invaluable |
---|
45 | 45 | | contributions to Texas citizens as director of the Angelo State |
---|
46 | 46 | | University Small Business Development Center and extend to him |
---|
47 | 47 | | congratulations on his retirement and best wishes for the future; |
---|
48 | 48 | | and, be it further |

49 | 49 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

50 | 50 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
