SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 176
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church in Houston on the
grand occasion of its 100th anniversary, which is being
celebrated February 19, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Greater Macedonia Baptist Church
has ministered faithfully to the temporal and spiritual needs of
countless people; and
WHEREAS, Due to the guidance and wise stewardship of its
pastors and to the outstanding leadership of its current pastor,
Vincent Lewis, the church has continued to grow and to play a
vital role in the life of the community; and
WHEREAS, Greater Macedonia Baptist Church has become an
invaluable source of strength for its members during times of
hardship and bereavement, and it has shared in many celebrations
during times of abundance and joy; and
WHEREAS, Members of the church will celebrate a century of
worship with the theme "Looking Back, Moving Forward, Growing
Disciples" on February 19, 2023; the celebration of its 100th
anniversary is an expression of the church's enduring commitment
to its mission of providing enlightenment and hope to its
congregation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and members
of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church on the joyous occasion of its
100th anniversary; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
