2	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	7		recognize the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church in Houston on the
4	8		grand occasion of its 100th anniversary, which is being
5	9		celebrated February 19, 2023; and
6	10		WHEREAS, Over the years, Greater Macedonia Baptist Church
7	11		has ministered faithfully to the temporal and spiritual needs of
8	12		countless people; and
9	13		WHEREAS, Due to the guidance and wise stewardship of its
10	14		pastors and to the outstanding leadership of its current pastor,
11	15		Vincent Lewis, the church has continued to grow and to play a
12	16		vital role in the life of the community; and
13	17		WHEREAS, Greater Macedonia Baptist Church has become an
14	18		invaluable source of strength for its members during times of
15	19		hardship and bereavement, and it has shared in many celebrations
16	20		during times of abundance and joy; and
17	21		WHEREAS, Members of the church will celebrate a century of
18	22		worship with the theme "Looking Back, Moving Forward, Growing
19	23		Disciples" on February 19, 2023; the celebration of its 100th
20	24		anniversary is an expression of the church's enduring commitment
21	25		to its mission of providing enlightenment and hope to its
22	26		congregation; now, therefore, be it
23	27		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
24	28		Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and members
25	29		of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church on the joyous occasion of its
26	30		100th anniversary; and, be it further
27	31		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
28	32		the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
