| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | passing of Catherine Jean Morlen of Longview on July 24, 2022, at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the age of 69; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Eleanor and Jerome Peitz, the former |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Cathy Peitz was born on April 2, 1953, and she grew up with eight |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | siblings, Steve, Mary Ann, Geraldine, Janet, Anita, LeRoy, Ernest, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and Patricia; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Morlen shared a fulfilling marriage of 46 years |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | with her husband, Sam Morlen, and she took great pride in their |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | daughters, Leslie Patrick and the late April McCarty; over the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | years, Mrs. Morlen had the pleasure of welcoming into her treasured |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | family five grandchildren, Gage, Peyton, Jordan, Cayden, and the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | late Catie McCarty, as well as four great-grandchildren, Carter, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Dawson, Landon, and Auriella; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Although she was born with a degenerative bone |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | disease, Mrs. Morlen refused to allow her condition to hold her |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | back from experiencing life; she found strength and solace in her |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | faith, and she gave generously of her time and talents to sing in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | her church's choir; in addition, she enjoyed gardening, and she |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | rescued numerous cats and dogs over the years; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Cathy Morlen led a life of caring devotion to her |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | loved ones, and while she is deeply missed, she will forever hold a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | special place in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | hereby pay tribute to the memory of Catherine Jean Morlen and extend |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her husband, |

| 33 | 33 | | Sherman "Sam" Morlen; to her daughter, Leslie Patrick; to her |

| 34 | 34 | | grandchildren, Gage Patrick and his fiancée, Kaycie Hills, Peyton |

| 35 | 35 | | Catherine and her husband, Dillon Campbell, Jordan McCarty, and |

| 36 | 36 | | Cayden McCarty; to her great-grandchildren, Carter Campbell, |
