| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Country and western performer Race Ricketts has |

| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, The son of Jamie and Roger Ricketts, Race Ricketts |

| 5 | 5 | | was born in Graham, the seat of Young County, and he attended |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | public school in Olney; he became involved with Graham Regional |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Theatre as a youth, and he also participated in the UIL One-Act |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Play contest and sang and acted in musicals at First Baptist |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Church of Olney; he went on to major in drama at the University of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Oklahoma, graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade point average; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, In 2022, Mr. Ricketts won the annual Larry Joe |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Taylor Songwriter Showcase with "940," a song he wrote in tribute |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | to Young County and its telephone area code; the song became his |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | first release, and it quickly gained popularity with radio |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | listeners of KFWR 95.9 in Fort Worth; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Although Mr. Ricketts has begun touring in 2023, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | he maintains a home base in Olney; there, he has performed at |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | several events supporting such organizations as the American |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Legion, the Olney Chamber of Commerce, the Olney Recreation |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Association, and the Graham Theater in the Square; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Race Ricketts is a source of great pride to Young |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | County, and his contributions to the community indeed merit |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Race Ricketts on his career in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | country and western music and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | for continued success; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

| 29 | 29 | | prepared for Mr. Ricketts as an expression of high regard from |
