22 WHEREAS, Country music artist and native Texan Clay Walker
33 is playing a significant role in the fight against multiple
44 sclerosis; and
55 WHEREAS, Diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple
66 sclerosis in 1996, Mr. Walker has since dedicated his efforts to
77 raising awareness of MS, a central nervous system disease marked
88 by weakness, numbness, and a loss of muscle coordination; he
99 established the nonprofit Band Against MS foundation in 2003, and
1010 he lends his support to Race to Erase MS; moreover, he is actively
1111 involved with the Max Cure Foundation, which funds research for
1212 the development of pediatric cancer drug therapies, and with Camp
1313 Heartland, which assists youth who are affected by HIV/AIDS; and
1414 WHEREAS, Born in Beaumont and raised in Vidor, Mr. Walker
1515 has reached multiplatinum status with four albums, producing
1616 such hit songs as "What's It To You" and "She Won't Be Lonely
1717 Long" over the course of his nearly 30-year career; in 2021, he
1818 released his most recent album, Texas to Tennessee, featuring the
1919 single "Catching Up With An Ol' Memory"; and
2020 WHEREAS, Clay Walker has long provided support to those
2121 with multiple sclerosis and to the ongoing search for a cure, and
2222 it is indeed a pleasure to join in honoring him for his important
2323 work; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
2525 Legislature, hereby commend Clay Walker for his many
2626 contributions to the fight against multiple sclerosis and extend
2727 to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
2929 prepared for Mr. Walker as an expression of high regard from the
3030 Texas Senate.
