5- WHEREAS, Harold Wayne Stone, a valued member of the
6- Longview community and a friend to many, passed away on September
7- 10, 2022, at the age of 88; and

6+ WHEREAS, Harold Wayne Stone, a valued member of the Longview
7+ community and a friend to many, passed away on September 10, 2022,
8+ at the age of 88; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of E. E. "Elmer" Stone and Blanche Iola
910 Mattox Stone, Harold Wayne Stone was born in Judson on April 24,
10- 1934, and grew up with five older siblings, Gerald, Eugene,
11- Robert, Nellie, and Elizabeth; he graduated from Judson Grove
12- High School and proudly served his country in the United States
13- Army, 3rd Infantry Division, at Fort Benning, Georgia; returning
14- to civilian life, he embarked on a distinguished 38-year career
15- with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, which recognized him
16- for an impressive 34 years of perfect attendance; and
11+ 1934, and grew up with five older siblings, Gerald, Eugene, Robert,
12+ Nellie, and Elizabeth; he graduated from Judson Grove High School
13+ and proudly served his country in the United States Army, 3rd
14+ Infantry Division, at Fort Benning, Georgia; returning to civilian
15+ life, he embarked on a distinguished 38-year career with
16+ Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, which recognized him for an
17+ impressive 34 years of perfect attendance; and
1718 WHEREAS, Mr. Stone took great pleasure in farming, and he
1819 could often be found out in the pasture on his tractor, feeding
1920 cattle, baling hay, or mending fences; a champion of agriculture,
2021 he was a charter member of the Gregg County Farm Bureau and
2122 eventually became the longest-serving member of its board; he
2223 received the 2020 Pioneer Award from the Texas Farm Bureau; in
2324 addition, he served as president of the Oil Belt Farm and Ranch
2425 Club, and he was a lifetime member of the Upshur-Gregg Soil and
25- Water Conservation Board; he traveled numerous times to Austin
26- and Washington, D.C., to speak to officials regarding
27- agricultural issues; and
28- WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Stone shared a
29- fulfilling marriage of more than 64 years with the love of his
30- life, Susie; he took great pride in their two sons, Bubba and
31- Jason, and three treasured grandsons; sustained by a strong
32- faith, Mr. Stone was an ordained deacon and valued member of
33- First Baptist Church Longview; he was a history buff and enjoyed
34- collecting and antiquing; and
35- WHEREAS, Harold Wayne Stone lived a rich and purposeful
36- life centered around his family, his faith, and the farming
37- community, and he will long be remembered with deep affection by
38- all who knew him; now, therefore, be it
39- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
40- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Harold Wayne
41- Stone and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
42- to his wife, Wanda "Susie" Marie Bryant Stone; to his sons,
43- Harold Wayne "Bubba" Stone Jr. and his wife, Dara, and Jason
44- Mattox Stone; to his grandsons, Tyler Brinkman Stone, Tanner
45- Bryant Stone, and Talan Mattox Stone; to his faithful companion,
46- Scooter; and to all others who mourn his passing; and, be it
47- further

27+ Washington, D.C., to speak to officials regarding agricultural
28+ issues; and
29+ WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Stone shared a fulfilling

35+ WHEREAS, Harold Wayne Stone lived a rich and purposeful life
36+ centered around his family, his faith, and the farming community,
37+ and he will long be remembered with deep affection by all who knew
38+ him; now, therefore, be it
39+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
40+ hereby pay tribute to the memory of Harold Wayne Stone and extend
41+ sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Wanda
42+ "Susie" Marie Bryant Stone; to his sons, Harold Wayne "Bubba" Stone
43+ Jr. and his wife, Dara, and Jason Mattox Stone; to his grandsons,
44+ Tyler Brinkman Stone, Tanner Bryant Stone, and Talan Mattox Stone;
45+ to his faithful companion, Scooter; and to all others who mourn his
46+ passing; and, be it further
4847 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
49- prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
50- this day, it do so in memory of Harold Wayne Stone.
