26 WHEREAS, A delegation from The University of Texas at
3- San Antonio is visiting Austin on February 22, 2023, for UTSA Day
4- at the State Capitol; and
5- WHEREAS, Established in 1969, UTSA first opened its doors
6- in 1973 with around 650 students enrolled at the graduate level;
7- the university has since grown significantly, with campuses
8- throughout San Antonio and a robust online-learning program;
9- UTSA currently serves more than 34,000 students of diverse
10- backgrounds, nearly half of whom are the first in their families
11- to attend college; it has also led the way in Latino student
12- success, earning a Seal of Excelencia from Excelencia in
13- Education; and
14- WHEREAS, Among the top four percent of research
15- universities in the nation, UTSA holds a Tier 1 status from the
16- Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education;
17- faculty researchers from the university have secured more than
18- 390 research awards totaling over $100 million; in addition to
19- expanding discovery activities, those awards have furthered
20- collaboration between faculty researchers and partners across
21- the nation and provided students with exceptional learning
22- opportunities; moreover, the university has partnered with UT
23- Health San Antonio to advance biomedical research through the San
24- Antonio Life Sciences Institute; and

30- Collaboration Center, the Cybersecurity Manufacturing
31- Innovation Institute, and the School of Data Science, the
32- first of its kind in Texas; and
33- WHEREAS, An engine of social and economic prosperity,
34- UTSA has graduated nearly 35,000 students in the last five
35- years; the school continues to increase its enrollment, and
36- its predicted growth will serve to prepare even more Texans for
37- the workforce; and

32+ nation, UTSA is home to the National Security Collaboration Center,
