No. 223 SENATE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Representative John Cyrier, who retired in January of 2023 after eight years of outstanding service on behalf of Texas citizens as the representative for District 17 in the Texas House of Representatives; and WHEREAS, Since being elected to the House in 2015, Representative Cyrier has faithfully executed the responsibilities of his office and has represented the people of District 17 with dedication; and WHEREAS, Throughout his four terms, Representative Cyrier served as chairman of the Sunset Advisory Commission, where he helped to assure accountability and efficiency across state agencies; he also chaired the House Committee on Culture, Recreation, and Tourism, which deals directly with high-revenue industries crucial to the state's economic growth; and WHEREAS, Before his career in the public sector, Representative Cyrier earned a degree from Texas A&M College of Engineering in 1995 and gained a reputation as an astute businessman for his leadership as cofounder and chief executive officer of a successful commercial construction company; and WHEREAS, He was elected as Caldwell County commissioner, and he served in that position from 2010 to 2013 and was appointed as Caldwell County judge pro tempore in 2012; from 2010 to 2015, he served on the Executive Committee of the Capitol Area Metropolitan Planning Organization; and WHEREAS, Representative Cyrier has served as a protector and ally of Texans in his positions as a captain in the Texas State Guard and as a member of the boards of nonprofits, including educational foundations and organizations whose missions are focused on homelessness and food insecurity; he is highly respected by his colleagues, by the members of the agencies he has served, and by his community for his dedication to public service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th Legislature, hereby commend Representative John Cyrier on his distinguished service to the people of Texas as a member of the Texas House of Representatives and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
