2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

3 | 3 | | recognize Representative John Cyrier, who retired in January of |
---|
4 | 4 | | 2023 after eight years of outstanding service on behalf of Texas |
---|
5 | 5 | | citizens as the representative for District 17 in the Texas House |
---|
6 | 6 | | of Representatives; and |
---|
7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Since being elected to the House in 2015, |
---|
8 | 8 | | Representative Cyrier has faithfully executed the |
---|
9 | 9 | | responsibilities of his office and has represented the people of |
---|
10 | 10 | | District 17 with dedication; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his four terms, Representative Cyrier |
---|
12 | 12 | | served as chairman of the Sunset Advisory Commission, where he |
---|
13 | 13 | | helped to assure accountability and efficiency across state |
---|
14 | 14 | | agencies; he also chaired the House Committee on Culture, |
---|
15 | 15 | | Recreation, and Tourism, which deals directly with high-revenue |
---|
16 | 16 | | industries crucial to the state's economic growth; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Before his career in the public sector, |
---|
18 | 18 | | Representative Cyrier earned a degree from Texas A&M College of |
---|
19 | 19 | | Engineering in 1995 and gained a reputation as an astute |
---|
20 | 20 | | businessman for his leadership as cofounder and chief executive |
---|
21 | 21 | | officer of a successful commercial construction company; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, He was elected as Caldwell County commissioner, |
---|
23 | 23 | | and he served in that position from 2010 to 2013 and was appointed |
---|
24 | 24 | | as Caldwell County judge pro tempore in 2012; from 2010 to 2015, |
---|
25 | 25 | | he served on the Executive Committee of the Capitol Area |
---|
26 | 26 | | Metropolitan Planning Organization; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Representative Cyrier has served as a protector |
---|
28 | 28 | | and ally of Texans in his positions as a captain in the Texas |
---|
29 | 29 | | State Guard and as a member of the boards of nonprofits, |
---|
30 | 30 | | including educational foundations and organizations whose |
---|
31 | 31 | | missions are focused on homelessness and food insecurity; he is |
---|
32 | 32 | | highly respected by his colleagues, by the members of the |
---|
33 | 33 | | agencies he has served, and by his community for his dedication |
---|
34 | 34 | | to public service; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby commend Representative John Cyrier on his |
---|
37 | 37 | | distinguished service to the people of Texas as a member of the |
---|
38 | 38 | | Texas House of Representatives and extend to him best wishes for |
---|
39 | 39 | | continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

41 | 41 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
