2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	join members of the Texas Nurses Association and other nursing
4	4	organizations in celebrating Nurse Day at the State Capitol on
5	5	February 28, 2023; and
6	6	WHEREAS, Approximately 400,000 certified nursing
7	7	assistants, licensed vocational nurses, registered nurses, and
8	8	advanced-practice registered nurses care for Texans each day in
9	9	hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, home health agencies,
10	10	schools, and other settings, and their dedication and expertise
11	11	are vital to the quality of health care in the state; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Nurses bravely fought the COVID-19 pandemic and
13	13	protected the health of Texans at great risk and often expense to
14	14	their personal safety; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Each year, the Gallup Poll rates nurses as the
16	16	highest-ranked professionals with respect to honesty and ethical
17	17	standards, and across the medical profession, they uphold a
18	18	mission of promoting excellence in patient care, both at the
19	19	bedside and in the public arena; and
20	20	WHEREAS, Through their deep commitment to honor the health
21	21	and well-being of their patients and their advocacy of quality
22	22	health care, Texas nurses have earned the lasting respect,
23	23	admiration, and appreciation of their fellow citizens; now,
24	24	therefore, be it
25	25	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
26	26	Legislature, hereby recognize February 28, 2023, as Nurse Day at
27	27	the State Capitol and commend all Texas nurses on their
28	28	invaluable service to the Lone Star State; and, be it further
29	29	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
30	30	them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
