| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Laura Ryan on her outstanding service as a member of |

| 4 | 4 | | the Texas Transportation Commission and on her many |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | contributions to the Texas Department of Transportation; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Laura Ryan was first appointed to the Texas |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Transportation Commission by Governor Greg Abbott in July of 2016 |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | to fill a vacancy; she was reappointed to serve a six-year term in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | March of 2017, and throughout her tenure as a commissioner, she |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | has served the Texas Department of Transportation with diligence |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and dedication; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A passionate champion for roadway safety, Laura |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Ryan has devoted herself in her role as commissioner to improving |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the safety and well-being of Texas motorists; in her years of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | service, Commissioner Ryan has been an advocate for improved |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | safety on roadways through such public awareness campaigns as |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | #EndTheStreakTX and through the department's pledge to meet the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | goal of zero traffic fatalities by 2050; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A highly accomplished business leader and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | corporate executive, Laura Ryan's distinguished career includes |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | her service in leadership positions in a broad range of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | professional industries and her role as founder and president of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | strategy and leadership consulting firm GX2 Partners; she has |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | previously served as the chair of the Texas Department of Motor |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Vehicles Board, where she represented the vehicle manufacturing |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and distribution industry and was an active voice in committee |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | meetings; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, In addition to her many professional endeavours |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and her years of public service, Laura Ryan is involved in giving |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | back to her local community and sits on the Houston Board of Child |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Advocates; in the course of her service to the Texas Department |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | of Transportation, she has served as a mentor to others and has |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | fulfilled the duties of her role with an unwavering commitment to |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | excellence, and it is truly fitting that she receive special |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | recognition on her exemplary service to Texas and the people of |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | the Lone State State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Legislature, hereby commend Laura Ryan on her exceptional |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | leadership and public service as a member of the Texas |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | Transportation Commission; and, be it further |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
