| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas energy industry and to join its employees, |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | advocates, and partners in celebrating Texas Energy Day at the |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Capitol 2023 on March 7, 2023; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Texas leads the nation in oil and natural gas |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | production, pipeline miles, and refining capacity, all of which |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | have made our state, nation, and the world stronger, more |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | efficient, and better connected and supplied with goods; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The industry's positive economic impact on Texas, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | including the payment of $24.7 billion in state and local taxes |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and state royalties in 2022 and the provision of 443,000 jobs, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | strengthening communities and enriching local economies; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, For every direct job in the Texas oil and natural |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | gas industry, 2.2 indirect jobs are created, resulting in a total |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of 1.4 million Texans' jobs being derived from the state's oil and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | natural gas industry; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Royalties from Texas oil and natural gas serve |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | as the primary funding for the Economic Stabilization Fund, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | also known as the Rainy Day Fund, the Permanent School Fund, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and the Permanent University Fund, contributing billions of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | dollars to those funds as well as $1.65 billion to Texas school |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | districts and more than $600 million to Texas counties in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | property taxes; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The Texas oil and natural gas industry is a leader |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | in innovation and initiatives that emphasize collaboration in |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | finding solutions to environmental outcomes while meeting the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | energy demands of today and of the future; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, The Texas oil and natural gas industry plays a |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | crucial role in our state and national economies and in global |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | stability; it is indeed fitting that the Texas energy industry |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and its partners be recognized for their contributions to the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas energy |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | industry and extend to them best wishes for a rewarding Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Energy Day at the Capitol; and, be it further |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
