2	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	7		join the citizens of the Coastal Bend and Texans across the state
4	8		in celebrating February 28, 2023, as Texas A&M
5	9		University--Corpus Christi Day at the Capitol; and
6	10		WHEREAS, Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi traces its
7	11		beginnings to 1947, when the University of Corpus Christi was
8	12		established; the institution became a part of The Texas A&M
9	13		University System in 1989; and
10	14		WHEREAS, Today, the university serves more than 12,000
11	15		students; it offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees
12	16		from the colleges of Business, Education and Human Development,
13	17		Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Science and
14	18		Engineering, and from the University College; and
15	19		WHEREAS, The university continues to bring new programs
16	20		and initiatives to the campus, including a bachelor's degree in
17	21		media production, a bachelor of business administration degree
18	22		at the RELLIS campus in Bryan, a master's degree in athletic
19	23		training, and multiple certificate programs approved by the
20	24		United States Department of Education; and
21	25		WHEREAS, Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi is home to
22	26		world-class centers and institutes conducting autonomous
23	27		geospatial and marine research focused on the Gulf of Mexico; and
24	28		WHEREAS, Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi is one of
25	29		the foremost institutions of higher education in the state, and
26	30		it is truly fitting that a day be set aside to recognize its many
27	31		contributions to the growth and prosperity of the Lone Star
28	32		State; now, therefore, be it
29	33		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
30	34		Legislature, hereby commend the administration, faculty, and
31	35		staff of Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi on their
32	36		commitment to excellence in education and extend to all best
33	37		wishes for an enjoyable Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi Day
34	38		at the Capitol; and, be it further
35	39		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
36	40		the university as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
