No. 258 SENATE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Maria Guadalupe Vallejo "Lupita" Sanchez, who died January 20, 2022, at the age of 56; and WHEREAS, Lupita Sanchez was an exemplary citizen who was treasured in her community for her ability to make those around her feel loved and for her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; and WHEREAS, Born on March 17, 1965, Lupita was a proud member of the 1983 Mercedes High School graduating class, and she was a devoted lifelong fan of the Mercedes Tigers and an active member of the alumni community; she cofounded the Mercedes Tigers youth football cheer program and served as the organization's general manager, and she helped to plan class and alumni events and always donned Mercedes Tiger merchandise to support her favorite team; and WHEREAS, Lupita and her beloved husband, Romulo, were blessed with three sons, Romulo Sanchez Jr., Samuel Sanchez, and Oscar Sanchez; her two grandchildren, Isabella and Romulo Sanchez III, were a source of much pride and joy to her, and she cherished her family above all else; and WHEREAS, Lupita was a loyal congregant of City Church Rio Grande Valley in Weslaco, originally Son-Rise Worship Center, which she helped to cofound; a woman of deep and abiding faith, she gave unselfishly to others and believed in the power of prayer, and her loving spirit was an inspiration to all who were privileged to share in her life; and WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be forever treasured by her family and her many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Maria Guadalupe Vallejo Sanchez; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lupita Sanchez.
