5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6	6	commemorates the life of Maria Guadalupe Vallejo "Lupita"
7	7	Sanchez, who died January 20, 2022, at the age of 56; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Lupita Sanchez was an exemplary citizen who was
9	9	treasured in her community for her ability to make those around
10	10	her feel loved and for her enthusiasm for living each day to the
11	11	fullest; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Born on March 17, 1965, Lupita was a proud member
13	13	of the 1983 Mercedes High School graduating class, and she was a
14	14	devoted lifelong fan of the Mercedes Tigers and an active member
15	15	of the alumni community; she cofounded the Mercedes Tigers youth
16	16	football cheer program and served as the organization's general
17	17	manager, and she helped to plan class and alumni events and
18	18	always donned Mercedes Tiger merchandise to support her favorite
19	19	team; and
20	20	WHEREAS, Lupita and her beloved husband, Romulo, were
21	21	blessed with three sons, Romulo Sanchez Jr., Samuel Sanchez, and
22	22	Oscar Sanchez; her two grandchildren, Isabella and Romulo
23	23	Sanchez III, were a source of much pride and joy to her, and she
24	24	cherished her family above all else; and
25	25	WHEREAS, Lupita was a loyal congregant of City Church Rio
26	26	Grande Valley in Weslaco, originally Son-Rise Worship Center,
27	27	which she helped to cofound; a woman of deep and abiding faith,
28	28	she gave unselfishly to others and believed in the power of
29	29	prayer, and her loving spirit was an inspiration to all who were
30	30	privileged to share in her life; and
31	31	WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,
32	32	and she leaves behind memories that will be forever treasured by
33	33	her family and her many friends; now, therefore, be it
34	34	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
35	35	Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
36	36	family of Maria Guadalupe Vallejo Sanchez; and, be it further
37	37	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
38	38	her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
39	39	Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
40	40	memory of Lupita Sanchez.
