26 WHEREAS, For 50 years, IDRA has been a leading advocate for
37 equal opportunity in the Texas public education system; and
48 WHEREAS, IDRA, or the Intercultural Development Research

6- in 1973, and over the course of the past half century, the
7- organization has worked to ensure that all Texas schoolchildren
8- are provided with a strong academic foundation that gives them
9- access to higher education and prepares them for success in

22- federal Bilingual Education Act of 1968 and Texas' first
23- bilingual education law; and
24- WHEREAS, In addition to its efforts at the state and
25- federal level, IDRA has provided support to educators and
26- administrators to improve teaching strategies and programs at
27- Texas schools and to help schools and districts address
28- disparities in student access to high-level STEMcourses,racial
29- and gender-based bullying, workforce diversity, and other
30- issues; the organization has also helped to advise schools on
31- strategies to better serve immigrant students, and it has made a
32- positive difference through its dropout prevention and parental
33- leadership programs; and
34- WHEREAS, IDRA was founded on the principle that all
35- children deserve the benefits of a high-quality education, and
36- the organization's members have demonstrated a tireless
37- dedication to this endeavor that is truly commendable; now,
38- therefore, be it
39- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
40- Legislature, hereby honor IDRA on the occasion of its 50th
41- anniversary and recognize all those involved with the
42- organization for the contributions they have made to the success
43- of Texas schools and the students they serve; and, be it further
