| 3 | 3 | | Treatment Program has earned its fourth consecutive recognition |

| 4 | 4 | | as a DWI Academy Court by the National Highway Traffic Safety |

| 5 | 5 | | Administration and the National Center for DWI Courts, and the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | program is being recognized for this honor at a ceremony on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | March 10, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Overseen by Judge Robert S. Anchondo of El Paso |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | County Criminal Court at Law No. 2, the DWI Court Intervention |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and Treatment Program has benefited area residents for nearly two |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | decades; with the goal of helping to reduce recidivism among |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | adult DWI offenders, the initiative works to provide appropriate |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | assistance to these individuals through judicial monitoring, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | mandatory treatment, and intensive supervision; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This specialized court is one of only six programs |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in the country to receive the DWI Academy Court designation for |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the current three-year term; it was selected for this prestigious |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | honor by demonstrating exemplary practices, and it will serve as |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | a national model and mentor for other such programs, offering |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | education and training opportunities for new DWI courts, hosting |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | staff from other jurisdictions for site visits, and playing a key |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | part in developing and improving DWI court methods; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Committed to improving the safety and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | well-being of El Paso County, Judge Robert Anchondo's DWI court |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | program has set an inspiring example for other communities |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | throughout the state and nation, and it is indeed deserving of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | recognition for its vital contributions to the justice system; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend the El Paso County DWI Court |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Intervention and Treatment Program on its recognition as a DWI |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Academy Court and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | initiative sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
