5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Blue Origin has safely operated Launch Site One in |

6 | 6 | | Culberson County since 2006; there, it developed and tested the |

7 | 7 | | suborbital New Shepard system and reusable rocket engines |
---|
8 | 8 | | necessary to fulfill its vision of millions of people living and |
---|
9 | 9 | | working in space for the benefit of Earth; and |

10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, In 2021, the company made human spaceflight |
---|
11 | 11 | | history at Launch Site One, becoming the first entity to fly |
---|
12 | 12 | | humans into space from Texas and the third private company to fly |
---|
13 | 13 | | humans above the Kármán line, the internationally recognized |
---|
14 | 14 | | boundary of space located at an altitude of 100 kilometers; the |
---|
15 | 15 | | company repeated this achievement a total of six times in the |
---|
16 | 16 | | span of 13 months, ultimately launching 31 humans into space from |
---|
17 | 17 | | the Lone Star State and bringing Texas, Culberson County, and Van |
---|
18 | 18 | | Horn to the attention of millions of people across the world; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Blue Origin has also contributed to national |
---|
20 | 20 | | security efforts with the testing and delivery of the BE-4, a |
---|
21 | 21 | | powerful liquified natural gas-fueled reusable rocket engine; |
---|
22 | 22 | | the company employs upwards of 400 aerospace engineers, |
---|
23 | 23 | | technicians, and business operations specialists in over 78 |
---|
24 | 24 | | House and 31 Senate districts in Texas; it has awarded business |
---|
25 | 25 | | to more than 400 companies in the Lone Star State, for a total |
---|
26 | 26 | | spend in Texas of well over $500 million; and |

27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to inspiring the next generation of |

28 | 28 | | space exploration, Blue Origin collects hundreds of thousands of |

29 | 29 | | postcards and flies them into space through its Club for the |
---|
30 | 30 | | Future nonprofit organization; and |

31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Blue Origin is driving further innovation in the |

32 | 32 | | aerospace industry, and its efforts are truly deserving of |

33 | 33 | | special recognition; now, therefore, be it |

34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
