| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Kalon Todd Cohen, who died on February |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 13, 2023, at the age of 49; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Kalon Cohen was born on March 24, 1973, in Dallas |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | to Marion and Gloria Cohen; he was a devoted son to his parents |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and loving brother to his siblings, Roderick, Chris, and Nyla |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Cohen; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Kalon attended Skyline High School and went on to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | graduate from Prairie View A&M University; he later settled in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | DeSoto, where he was an active member of his community for many |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | years of his life; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Kalon served with distinction with the Dallas |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Fire Department for 22 years; during his tenure, he bravely aided |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the residents of the Dallas area in times of disaster and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | uncertainty and devoted himself to protecting the safety and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | well-being of his community; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Kalon cherished his family and spending quality |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | time with his loved ones; he enjoyed music and had a passion for |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | riding motorcycles, and he took joy in living each day to the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | fullest; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A man of courage, determination, and strength, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Kalon was an exemplary citizen and a devoted protector of his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | community who gave unselfishly to others; his valor and sense of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | adventure were a source of inspiration to those around him, and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | he leaves behind memories that will be treasured by his family |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and by all who were blessed to share in his life; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | family of Kalon Todd Cohen; and, be it further |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
