| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the South Oak Cliff High School football team, which |

| 4 | 4 | | recently won the 2023 University Interscholastic League Class 5A |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Division II state championship title; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The South Oak Cliff Golden Bears were victorious |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in their 2023 appearance at the Class 5A Division II finals; the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | team defeated the Port Neches-Groves Indians by a score of 34-24 |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | on December 16, 2022, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington and became |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the first Dallas Independent School District team in history to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | win consecutive state championships; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | talent and perseverance throughout the school year, ending the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | season with a 13-3 record; the members of this championship team |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | can take great pride in their outstanding performance; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Head Coach Jason Todd, Athletic Coordinator James Mays, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Assistant Athletic Director William C. Mitchell and with the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | guidance of Principal Dr. Willie Johnson and Dallas Independent |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | School District Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde, the South Oak |

| 21 | 21 | | Cliff Golden Bears have developed exceptional teamwork and |

| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In addition, the Golden Bears received invaluable |

| 24 | 24 | | support throughout the 2022-2023 season from the team's training |

| 37 | 37 | | the South Oak Cliff High School football team on the Golden |

| 38 | 38 | | Bears' successful season and congratulate them on winning the |
