| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Scouts BSA Troop No. 7 in Grapevine is |

| 3 | 3 | | celebrating the 110th anniversary of its founding on March 8, |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, In 1913, the mayor of Grapevine, Benjamin Richard |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Wall, brought the No. 7 Boy Scout Unit Charter back from New |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | York, establishing it as one of the oldest scout groups in Texas |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and the region west of the Mississippi; not even World War I could |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | diminish the enthusiasm of this group of young men, who continued |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | to meet and camp every Friday night even though most of their |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | fathers were fighting overseas; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Wall remained involved with the troop until |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 1954, and through the years it has been supported by a number of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | local organizations, including the Grapevine Business Men's |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | League, the Grapevine City Council, the Grapevine Lions Club, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | St. Laurence Episcopal Church; today, this scouting crew is |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | sponsored by Grapevine Friends of Scouting; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of scoutmaster Darren White, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Troop No. 7 counts approximately 40 scouts among its members; the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | troop has produced 144 Eagle Scouts and has participated in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | myriad service projects such as flag ceremonies on Memorial Day |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and numerous activities performed in behalf of schools, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | municipalities, and other organizations; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, For more than a century, Scouts BSA Troop No. 7 |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | has made a significant difference in the lives of countless young |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Texans while contributing to the betterment of Grapevine, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Tarrant County, and beyond, and it is indeed a pleasure to join in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | recognizing this momentous milestone in the group's rich |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Scouts BSA Troop No. 7 of |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Grapevine on the 110th anniversary of its founding and commend |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | its members and leaders, past and present, and all those who have |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | worked to support the organization during its 11 decades of |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | service to the community; and, be it further |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

| 37 | 37 | | prepared for the troop as an expression of high regard from the |
|---|
