5+ SENATE RESOLUTION
26 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
37 recognize the Center for Transforming Lives in honor of the
4- organization's 115th anniversary, which was celebrated in 2022; and
8+ organization's 115th anniversary, which was celebrated in 2022;
9+ and
510 WHEREAS, Previously known as the YWCA of Fort Worth and
611 Tarrant County, the Center for Transforming Lives was founded in
712 1907 by Fort Worth women; it was the first YWCA in Texas to serve
813 local low-income women and offer them such services as housing,
914 employment support, and social activities; and
1015 WHEREAS, The center has strengthened its community and the
1116 surrounding areas since its beginning; it was a founding member
1217 of the local chapters of United Service Organizations, Red Cross,
1318 and United Way, and in the 1950s, it expanded its services
1419 throughout Fort Worth, Arlington, and Parker County; and
1520 WHEREAS, Committed to disrupting the cycle of poverty that
1621 affects many women and children, the center expanded its reach in
1722 2013 to provide support for families experiencing homelessness,
1823 to advocate early childhood education and financial literacy,
1924 and to offer additional resources to vulnerable families to
2025 promote their economic mobility; and
2126 WHEREAS, The center has acted as a safety net for more than
2227 3,000 women and children in Tarrant County each year since 2017;
2328 a model of generosity of spirit and instrumental help and an
2429 anchor for those who want to work toward a better future, the
2530 center has done much to remedy the adverse circumstances
2631 experienced by countless people and serves as an inspiring
2732 example to all Texans; now, therefore, be it
2833 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
2934 Legislature, hereby commend the associates and supporters of the
3035 Center for Transforming Lives on their invaluable contributions
3136 benefiting mothers and young children in our state and extend to
3237 all associated with the center best wishes for much continued
3338 success in their exemplary mission; and, be it further
3439 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3540 the center as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
