2	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	7		recognize the Center for Transforming Lives in honor of the
4		-	organization's 115th anniversary, which was celebrated in 2022; and

5	10		WHEREAS, Previously known as the YWCA of Fort Worth and
6	11		Tarrant County, the Center for Transforming Lives was founded in
7	12		1907 by Fort Worth women; it was the first YWCA in Texas to serve
8	13		local low-income women and offer them such services as housing,
9	14		employment support, and social activities; and
10	15		WHEREAS, The center has strengthened its community and the
11	16		surrounding areas since its beginning; it was a founding member
12	17		of the local chapters of United Service Organizations, Red Cross,
13	18		and United Way, and in the 1950s, it expanded its services
14	19		throughout Fort Worth, Arlington, and Parker County; and
15	20		WHEREAS, Committed to disrupting the cycle of poverty that
16	21		affects many women and children, the center expanded its reach in
17	22		2013 to provide support for families experiencing homelessness,
18	23		to advocate early childhood education and financial literacy,
19	24		and to offer additional resources to vulnerable families to
20	25		promote their economic mobility; and
21	26		WHEREAS, The center has acted as a safety net for more than
22	27		3,000 women and children in Tarrant County each year since 2017;
23	28		a model of generosity of spirit and instrumental help and an
24	29		anchor for those who want to work toward a better future, the
25	30		center has done much to remedy the adverse circumstances
26	31		experienced by countless people and serves as an inspiring
27	32		example to all Texans; now, therefore, be it
28	33		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
29	34		Legislature, hereby commend the associates and supporters of the
30	35		Center for Transforming Lives on their invaluable contributions
31	36		benefiting mothers and young children in our state and extend to
32	37		all associated with the center best wishes for much continued
33	38		success in their exemplary mission; and, be it further
34	39		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
35	40		the center as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
