11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 294
22 WHEREAS, Texas Women's Foundation has demonstrated a
33 steadfast commitment to supporting women and girls across the
44 Lone Star State; and
55 WHEREAS, This outstanding organization can trace its
66 history to 1985, when a group of 19 women established Dallas
77 Women's Foundation to help ensure that resources were being aimed
88 at addressing the unique needs of women and their families; over
99 the years, the organization has expanded to serve women
1010 throughout the entire state, and it officially became Texas
1111 Women's Foundation in 2018; to carry out its mission, TXWF
1212 leverages funds from a number of donors, including individuals,
1313 foundations, and corporations, and its efforts focus on
1414 advancing economic and leadership opportunities for women and
1515 girls; and
1616 WHEREAS, TXWF has been a leader in the gender lens
1717 investing movement, deploying 100 percent of its assets in a
1818 gendered impact portfolio that yields financial returns and
1919 social benefits to women and girls; the organization also
2020 advocates for positive change at the local and state levels, and
2121 it produces research on economic issues that impact women in
2222 Texas, such as child care, housing, education, and health care;
2323 and
2424 WHEREAS, Since 2013, TXWF has helped some 90,000 women and
2525 families through its leadership and economic security
2626 initiatives, including the Young Women's Initiative, the Women's
2727 Leadership Institute, and #BestSelf; the organization also
2828 encompasses groups known as Giving Circles, which contribute
2929 funds to nonprofit organizations that benefit the Asian American
3030 and Pacific Islander, African American, and Hispanic
3131 communities; in addition, TXWF has awarded more than $46 million
3232 in grants over the past 38 years; and
3333 WHEREAS, For more than three and a half decades, Texas
3434 Women's Foundation has empowered women to build an even brighter
3535 future for themselves and their communities, and the
3636 organization is truly deserving of special recognition for its
3737 many contributions; now, therefore, be it
3838 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3939 Legislature, hereby commend Texas Women's Foundation for its
4040 work in support of women, girls, and their families and extend to
4141 all those associated with the organization sincere best wishes
4242 for the future; and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4444 prepared for Texas Women's Foundation as an expression of high
4545 regard from the Texas Senate.
