SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Garden Ridge Lions Club, which is celebrating 50
years of service in Comal County; and
WHEREAS, The Garden Ridge Lions Club was founded on March
6, 1973, and serves the southern Comal County area and southern
New Braunfels; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Garden Ridge Lions Club are
esteemed civic stewards who are committed to addressing needs in
the community that often go unmet; the club's extensive outreach
includes delivering food and gifts to families in need during the
holidays, offering hearing and vision evaluations at local
public schools, building ramps so that people who have mobility
disabilities have easier access to the world outside their homes,
and providing refurbished eyeglasses to people in developing
countries; and
WHEREAS, A truly open-hearted benefactor, the Garden Ridge
Lions Club sponsors the Texas Lions Camp, a residential summer
camp in Kerrville for children who have physical disabilities;
the club also supports such organizations as the Make-A-Wish
Foundation; and
WHEREAS, The ongoing success of the Garden Ridge Lions
Club continues through the generosity, compassion, and civic
spirit of its members, and they are all deserving of recognition
as the club celebrates five decades of charitable service in
Texas; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Garden Ridge Lions
Club for continuing their proud and historic tradition of
kindness and caring for others in so many ways and extend to them
best wishes for a memorable and enjoyable 50th anniversary
celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the club as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
