| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 7 | 7 | | recognize Golden Soror Deborah J. Kilgore, a 50-year member of |

| 8 | 8 | | Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, who is being honored by |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Alpha Xi Omega Chapter at its Founders' Day Luncheon on February |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 11, 2023; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Alpha Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sorority was established on June 6, 1929, through the efforts of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Florence Harlee Phelps, who also served as the chapter's first |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | president; through programs of service, the chapter has long |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | worked to encourage young women to develop high standards of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | character and to strive for excellence in educational |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | achievement, and it annually recognizes long-standing sorority |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | members at its Founders' Day Luncheon; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Deborah was inducted into Epsilon Mu Chapter of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at North Texas State University in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 1973; over the years, she has remained a loyal member of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | sorority and has served as a mentor and role model to countless |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | sisters; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Deborah is truly deserving of recognition for her |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | longtime membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and for the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | important role she has played in helping Alpha Xi Omega Chapter |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | fulfill its mission of encouraging high scholastic and ethical |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | standards, promoting unity and friendship, addressing problems |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | that concern girls and women, and being of service to all; now, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend Golden Soror Deborah J. Kilgore on |

| 33 | 33 | | her dedicated service and her many achievements and extend to her |

| 34 | 34 | | congratulations on being honored by Alpha Xi Omega Chapter of |
