5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

6 | 6 | | passing of Richard Wade Carter of Sherman on December 5, 2022, at |
---|
7 | 7 | | the age of 90; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Richard Carter was born in Dallas on December 15, |
---|
9 | 9 | | 1931, to Roscoe and Beatrice Carter; he grew up in Oak Cliff and |
---|
10 | 10 | | graduated from Dallas High School; answering his nation's call to |
---|
11 | 11 | | duty, he joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and was stationed in Korea |
---|
12 | 12 | | and Japan; following his military career, he returned home to |
---|
13 | 13 | | help take care of his family; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, On November 21, 1972, Mr. Carter married the |
---|
15 | 15 | | former Malinda Ann Stewman; the couple shared a rewarding union |
---|
16 | 16 | | that spanned half a century, and through the years, they |
---|
17 | 17 | | especially enjoyed traveling together and trying different |
---|
18 | 18 | | restaurants; he took great pride in his daughter, Melanie, his |
---|
19 | 19 | | stepson, Jack, and his four grandchildren and five |
---|
20 | 20 | | great-grandchildren; known for his ability to fix anything, he |
---|
21 | 21 | | liked to work with his hands, and he was also an avid photographer |
---|
22 | 22 | | and angler; a proud Republican and a man of faith, he attended |
---|
23 | 23 | | Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Oak Cliff for many years; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Richard |
---|
25 | 25 | | Carter will remember the way he touched their lives with his |
---|
26 | 26 | | kindness and compassion, and he will forever hold a treasured |
---|
27 | 27 | | place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Richard Wade |
---|
30 | 30 | | Carter and extend sincere condolences to the members of his |
---|
31 | 31 | | family: to his wife, Malinda Ann Carter; to his daughter, |

32 | 32 | | Melanie Grammar, and her husband, Don; to his stepson, Jack |

33 | 33 | | Hopper, and his wife, Merry; to his grandchildren, Courtney |
