55 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
66 passing of Richard Wade Carter of Sherman on December 5, 2022, at
77 the age of 90; and
88 WHEREAS, Richard Carter was born in Dallas on December 15,
99 1931, to Roscoe and Beatrice Carter; he grew up in Oak Cliff and
1010 graduated from Dallas High School; answering his nation's call to
1111 duty, he joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and was stationed in Korea
1212 and Japan; following his military career, he returned home to
1313 help take care of his family; and
1414 WHEREAS, On November 21, 1972, Mr. Carter married the
1515 former Malinda Ann Stewman; the couple shared a rewarding union
1616 that spanned half a century, and through the years, they
1717 especially enjoyed traveling together and trying different
1818 restaurants; he took great pride in his daughter, Melanie, his
1919 stepson, Jack, and his four grandchildren and five
2020 great-grandchildren; known for his ability to fix anything, he
2121 liked to work with his hands, and he was also an avid photographer
2222 and angler; a proud Republican and a man of faith, he attended
2323 Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Oak Cliff for many years; and
2424 WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Richard
2525 Carter will remember the way he touched their lives with his
2626 kindness and compassion, and he will forever hold a treasured
2727 place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
2929 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Richard Wade
3030 Carter and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
3131 family: to his wife, Malinda Ann Carter; to his daughter,
3232 Melanie Grammar, and her husband, Don; to his stepson, Jack
3333 Hopper, and his wife, Merry; to his grandchildren, Courtney
3434 Hopper, Tifany Jeakins and her husband, Travis, Brian Grammar,
3535 and Mark Torres and his wife, Courtney; to his
3636 great-grandchildren, Paisley Haige, Stella Jeakins, Beck
3737 Jeakins, Zachary Grammar, and Bear Grammar; and to his other
3838 relatives and friends; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4040 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4141 this day, it do so in memory of Richard Carter.
