SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 314
In Memory
of
Mary West
WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
memories of Mary Martha West of Mineola, who passed away on
October 24, 2022, at the age of 79; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of Robert Bonsil Dykes and Mary
Lorraine Padgett Sullivan, Mary West was born on March 28, 1943,
in Mineola and grew up with two sisters, Brenda and Cathy, and a
brother, Butch; she shared a rewarding family life with her
husband, James Donald West, and her three children, Damon,
Kristal, and Kimberly; with the passing years, she delighted in
seeing her family grow to include numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, A valued member of her community, Mrs. West owned
the Diet Center in Mineola for a time; in her leisure hours, she
enjoyed hobbies ranging from reading and playing dominos to
dancing and bowling; moreover, she was an active congregant of
the First Baptist Church in Mineola; and
WHEREAS, Mary West led a life of caring devotion to her loved
ones, and although she is deeply missed, she will forever remain a
vibrant presence for those who were fortunate enough to know her;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Martha West
and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
this day, it do so in memory of Mary West.
