| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 4 | 4 | | won the University Interscholastic League 6A Division II state |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The DeSoto Eagles were victorious in their first |

| 7 | 7 | | appearance at the state finals, defeating the Austin Vandegrift |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Vipers by a score of 42-17 on December 17, 2022, at the AT&T |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Stadium in Arlington; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, These dedicated young athletes have demonstrated |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | remarkable talent and perseverance throughout the school year, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | ending the season with a 14-2 record, and they have earned the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | right to take great pride in their outstanding performance; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Eagles have developed exceptional teamwork |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and discipline under the superior leadership and expertise of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Head Coach and DeSoto Independent School District Athletic |

| 17 | 17 | | Director Claude Mathis and Assistant Coaches Kyle Coats, |

| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, DeSoto High School and the residents of the City |

| 27 | 27 | | of DeSoto are proud of the Eagles for their outstanding |

| 28 | 28 | | accomplishments as well as for their hard work, their impressive |

| 29 | 29 | | skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend the DeSoto Eagles on their |

| 32 | 32 | | successful season and congratulate them on winning the 2022 UIL |

| 33 | 33 | | 6A Division II state football championship; and, be it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
