 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Proud residents of Parker County are gathering in
 Austin on March 29, 2023, in celebration of Parker County Day at the
 State Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, Established in 1855 from Bosque and Navarro
 Counties, Parker County is named for Isaac Parker, who brought 224
 settlers to the region in that same year; the county's population
 and economy continued to expand during the late 19th century,
 spurred by the construction of three railroads in the area; over the
 decades, Parker County has undergone many changes and today
 benefits from a diverse market centered on commercial and
 agribusiness, with local farms and ranches raising beef cattle,
 dairy cows, and horses and growing pecans and peaches; and
 WHEREAS, Weatherford, the county seat, offers such
 attractions as Clark Gardens, the Doss Heritage and Culture Center,
 and the Museum of the Americas; the downtown historic district is
 the site of the old-time Farmers Market, as well as First Monday
 Trade Days, one of the oldest open-air markets in Texas; named the
 Peach Capital of Texas, Weatherford draws more than 35,000
 attendees each year with the Parker County Peach Festival, and
 because of its proximity to the headquarters of the National
 Cutting Horse Association and its major events, the city has gained
 recognition as the Cutting Horse Capital of the World; and
 WHEREAS, Springtown was established in 1859 by Captain Joseph
 Ward of New Jersey, who was impressed by the area's natural beauty
 and its 25 cold springs; originally known as Littleton Springs, it
 was renamed Springtown in the 1870s and incorporated in 1884; and
 WHEREAS, Located at the western edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth
 Metroplex, Parker County offers an attractive rural setting
 combined with proximity to urban amenities, and its citizens can
 look back with pride at their unique history while they work to
 build a bright future; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
 hereby recognize March 29, 2023, as Parker County Day at the State
 Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation sincere best wishes
 for a meaningful and memorable stay in Austin.
