5+ SENATE RESOLUTION
26 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
37 recognize the members of the United States armed forces who so
48 honorably served our nation during the Vietnam War and to pay
59 tribute to them on the occasion of Vietnam Veterans Day on March
610 29, 2023; and
711 WHEREAS, The Vietnam War was one of the longest military
812 conflicts in United States history; more than three million
913 Americans served in Southeast Asia during the war, with more than
1014 58,000 making the ultimate sacrifice, including more than 3,400
1115 Texans; and
12- WHEREAS, In recognition of the service and sacrifice of the
13- thousands of Texans who served in the Vietnam War, the 79th
16+ WHEREAS, In recognition of the service and sacrifice of
17+ the thousands of Texans who served in the Vietnam War, the 79th
1418 Legislature of the State of Texas passed House Concurrent
1519 Resolution 36, which called for the construction of a monument on
1620 the Capitol grounds to pay tribute to those who took part in the
1721 conflict; the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument was
1822 dedicated on March 29, 2014; and
1923 WHEREAS, The men and women who served the nation during the
2024 Vietnam War embodied the highest standards of courage,
2125 sacrifice, and devotion to duty, and their heroic actions set a
2226 lasting example that will live forever in the annals of American
2327 history; and
2428 WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that these brave veterans be
2529 recognized for their patriotism and their service on behalf of
2630 the nation as Texans across the state observe Vietnam Veterans
2731 Day; now, therefore, be it
2832 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
2933 Legislature, hereby commend the veterans of the United States
3034 armed forces who served during the Vietnam War on their
3135 extraordinary service to their nation; and, be it further
3236 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
3337 honor of their great dedication and their sacrifice.
