2	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	7		recognize the members of the United States armed forces who so
4	8		honorably served our nation during the Vietnam War and to pay
5	9		tribute to them on the occasion of Vietnam Veterans Day on March
6	10		29, 2023; and
7	11		WHEREAS, The Vietnam War was one of the longest military
8	12		conflicts in United States history; more than three million
9	13		Americans served in Southeast Asia during the war, with more than
10	14		58,000 making the ultimate sacrifice, including more than 3,400
11	15		Texans; and
12		-	WHEREAS, In recognition of the service and sacrifice of ~~the~~
13		-	thousands of Texans who served in the Vietnam War, the 79th
	16	+	WHEREAS, In recognition of the service and sacrifice of
	17	+	the thousands of Texans who served in the Vietnam War, the 79th
14	18		Legislature of the State of Texas passed House Concurrent
15	19		Resolution 36, which called for the construction of a monument on
16	20		the Capitol grounds to pay tribute to those who took part in the
17	21		conflict; the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument was
18	22		dedicated on March 29, 2014; and
19	23		WHEREAS, The men and women who served the nation during the
20	24		Vietnam War embodied the highest standards of courage,
21	25		sacrifice, and devotion to duty, and their heroic actions set a
22	26		lasting example that will live forever in the annals of American
23	27		history; and
24	28		WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that these brave veterans be
25	29		recognized for their patriotism and their service on behalf of
26	30		the nation as Texans across the state observe Vietnam Veterans
27	31		Day; now, therefore, be it
28	32		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
29	33		Legislature, hereby commend the veterans of the United States
30	34		armed forces who served during the Vietnam War on their
31	35		extraordinary service to their nation; and, be it further
32	36		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
33	37		honor of their great dedication and their sacrifice.
