2	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	7		recognize Dr. Jaroy Moore on his distinguished career of more
4	8		than 50 years of state service and on his many contributions to
5	9		agriculture and agricultural education in Texas; and
6	10		WHEREAS, An accomplished scholar, researcher, and leader
7	11		in his field, Dr. Jaroy Moore has served as resident director of
8	12		the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Lubbock
9	13		since 1998; he began his study of agriculture at Tarleton State
10	14		College and went on to earn a degree in agronomy from Texas A&M
11	15		University, where he also earned master's and doctorate degrees
12	16		in soil physics; and
13	17		WHEREAS, Dr. Moore has devoted his career to studying the
14	18		agricultural conditions of Texas and to understanding the
15	19		science of the state's natural resources; his decades of
16	20		leadership and specialized study as an administrative director,
17	21		professor, and researcher within The Texas A&M University System
18	22		have allowed Dr. Moore to play a key role in producing important
19	23		and valuable scientific work that has done much to benefit the
20	24		agricultural industry and the citizens of Texas; and
21	25		WHEREAS, In addition to his extensive leadership within
22	26		The Texas A&M University System, Dr. Moore is involved in many
23	27		professional organizations and has worked in connection with
24	28		agricultural groups and agencies in Texas and nationwide; in the
25	29		course of his career, he has been honored with accolades and
26	30		numerous awards for his superior leadership and service,
27	31		including being named Outstanding Agriculturist by Governor Rick
28	32		Perry in 2006 in recognition of his public service; and
29	33		WHEREAS, Dr. Moore is highly respected and admired by his
30	34		staff and colleagues at Texas A&M University and by members of
31	35		the agricultural industry and the scientific community; for more
32	36		than five decades, Dr. Moore has served the state with dedication
33	37		and an outstanding commitment to excellence, and it is indeed
34	38		fitting that he receive special recognition for his invaluable
35	39		contributions; now, therefore, be it
36	40		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
37		-	Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Jaroy Moore on his
38		-	~~distinguished~~ career and his exemplary service to the Lone
39		-	~~Star State; and, be~~ it further
