11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 397
22 WHEREAS, Reman Day is taking place on April 13, 2023; and
33 WHEREAS, An initiative of the Remanufacturing Industries
44 Council, Reman Day highlights the environmental and economic
55 benefits of remanufacturing; a comprehensive and rigorous
66 industrial process, remanufacturing transforms used, worn, or
77 non-functional products and components to "like new" or "better
88 than new" condition; and
99 WHEREAS, Through remanufacturing, end-of-life goods, or
1010 items that are no longer considered useful, are diverted from
1111 landfills; the process has been recognized by numerous
1212 universities, research institutions, and manufacturers for its
1313 positive impact on the environment; and
1414 WHEREAS, A 2012 U.S. International Trade Commission report
1515 indicated that remanufacturing activities supported at least
1616 180,000 full-time jobs in the United States in 2011; it
1717 additionally stated that production of remanufactured goods in
1818 the U.S. increased by approximately 15 percent from 2009 to 2011
1919 and that export of those goods totaled $11.7 billion in 2011; and
2020 WHEREAS, Remanufacturing has long played a vital role in
2121 furthering the economic prosperity of the Lone Star State, and
2222 Reman Day is helping to ensure that future generations of Texans
2323 are equipped to carry on that strong tradition of innovation and
2424 industry; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
2626 Legislature, hereby recognize April 13, 2023, as Reman Day and
2727 encourage all citizens to learn more about the benefits of
2828 remanufacturing.
