 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dr. Julio C. O'Ryan has greatly benefited countless
 South Texas patients over the course of his long career in
 pediatrics; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Bayamo, Cuba, in 1943, Dr. O'Ryan earned his
 medical degree from the University of Zaragoza in Spain; he
 completed an internship at Perth Amboy General Hospital in New
 Jersey and residencies at Massachusetts hospitals associated with
 Harvard Medical School; in addition, he had teaching appointments
 as a clinical fellow in pediatrics at Harvard and as a senior
 resident at Driscoll Children's Hospital; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. O'Ryan entered private practice in Kingsville
 in 1975; he was also a clinical instructor for the Coastal Bend
 College nursing program and taught neonatal resuscitation at the
 Academy of Pediatrics at Christus Spohn Kleberg Memorial Hospital
 in Kingsville; in 1998, he joined the pediatrics specialty clinic
 at Christus Spohn Health System in Falfurrias; and
 WHEREAS, Since 2006, Dr. O'Ryan has led pediatrics for
 Community Action Health Center; its Federally Qualified Health
 Centers provide care for medically underserved communities in
 Kingsville and Falfurrias; with a gentle manner and quick smile, he
 puts his young patients and their parents at ease; he and his staff
 work long hours to ensure that every child receives the best
 possible care; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. O'Ryan exemplifies the skill, compassion, and
 dedication that are the hallmarks of the best physicians, and he has
 earned the deep gratitude of his patients and the great admiration
 of his colleagues; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
 hereby honor Dr. Julio C. O'Ryan for his contributions to
 pediatrics in South Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes for
 continued success in his important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dr. O'Ryan as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 Senate.
