| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Julio C. O'Ryan has greatly benefited |

| 3 | 3 | | countless South Texas patients over the course of his long career |

| 4 | 4 | | in pediatrics; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Born in Bayamo, Cuba, in 1943, Dr. O'Ryan earned |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | his medical degree from the University of Zaragoza in Spain; he |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | completed an internship at Perth Amboy General Hospital in New |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Jersey and residencies at Massachusetts hospitals associated |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | with Harvard Medical School; in addition, he had teaching |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | appointments as a clinical fellow in pediatrics at Harvard and as |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | a senior resident at Driscoll Children's Hospital; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. O'Ryan entered private practice in Kingsville |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | in 1975; he was also a clinical instructor for the Coastal Bend |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | College nursing program and taught neonatal resuscitation at the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Academy of Pediatrics at Christus Spohn Kleberg Memorial Hospital |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in Kingsville; in 1998, he joined the pediatrics specialty clinic |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | at Christus Spohn Health System in Falfurrias; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Since 2006, Dr. O'Ryan has led pediatrics for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Community Action Health Center; its Federally Qualified Health |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Centers provide care for medically underserved communities in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Kingsville and Falfurrias; with a gentle manner and quick smile, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | he puts his young patients and their parents at ease; he and his |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | staff work long hours to ensure that every child receives the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | best possible care; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Dr. O'Ryan exemplifies the skill, compassion, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | dedication that are the hallmarks of the best physicians, and he |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | has earned the deep gratitude of his patients and the great |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | admiration of his colleagues; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby honor Dr. Julio C. O'Ryan for his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | contributions to pediatrics in South Texas and extend to him |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | sincere best wishes for continued success in his important work; |
