2- WHEREAS, Legendary country music singer and songwriter
3- Tanya Tucker is visiting the State Capitol on April 13, 2023,
4- providing a welcome opportunity to pay tribute to her many
5- achievements; and
6- WHEREAS, A native of Seminole, Tanya Tucker began
7- showcasing her vocal talents from a young age, and after signing
8- to Columbia Records, she scored her first hit in 1972 with "Delta
9- Dawn" at the age of 13; that year, she made her debut at the Grand
10- Ole Opry and was named the New Female Vocalist of the Year by the
11- Academy of Country Music; her second album spawned two No. 1
12- songs, "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Blood Red and Goin' Down"
13- and established her as a major star; her run of country hits
14- included "Lizzie and the Rainman," "San Antonio Stroll," and
15- "Don't Believe My Heart Can Stand Another You" in 1975, and she
16- followed that up with the albums Lovin' and Learnin' and Here's
17- Some Love in 1976 and Ridin' Rainbows in 1977; and
18- WHEREAS, Ms. Tucker moved to Los Angeles in 1978 and
19- ventured into new territory with T.N.T., an album that achieved
20- gold certification and earned her a Grammy nomination for best
21- rock vocal performance; in the subsequent years, she appeared on
22- several television shows and made her feature film debut in Hard
23- Country; over the course of her career, she has earned additional
24- credits on The Rebels miniseries, Love Boat, and Touched by an
25- Angel in addition to appearing on American Idol and countless

9+ WHEREAS, A native of Seminole, Tanya Tucker began showcasing

3639 WHEREAS, Since 2000, Ms. Tucker has established her own

39- albums; she received her first two Grammy Awards in 2020 for
40- "While I'm Livin'" and "Bring My Flowers Now," and the Country
41- Music Hall of Fame announced that she would be inducted as a
42- member of the Class of 2023; and
