| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, For 25 years, Breckenridge Village of Tyler has |

| 3 | 3 | | distinguished itself as a warm and welcoming community for adults |

| 4 | 4 | | with intellectual and developmental disabilities; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert and Jean Breckenridge first conceived of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the idea for Breckenridge Village after their youngest son, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Jimmy, was diagnosed with Down syndrome; they purchased 78 acres |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | of land near their home in Tyler and took the first steps toward |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the development of a residential community that would help |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | provide for their son's future needs and the needs of other |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | families like their own; the couple's dream became a reality when |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Breckenridge Village opened its doors on April 4, 1998, Jimmy |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Breckenridge's birthday; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Breckenridge Village has provided |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | a safe and compassionate environment for residents and visitors |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | to grow and develop socially, mentally, emotionally, physically, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and spiritually; it offers residential services that include |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | individualized case management and 24-hour access to live-in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | personnel who can assist with daily activities, as well as day |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | programs that help participants learn valuable life and job |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | skills; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The men and women involved with Breckenridge |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Village have carried out their mission with exceptional |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | dedication and compassion, and they may take pride in knowing |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | that their work has greatly enriched and improved the lives of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | many Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby honor Breckenridge Village of Tyler on the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | occasion of its 25th anniversary on April 4, 2023, and pay |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | special tribute to the legacy of its founders, the Breckenridge |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | family; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | prepared for Breckenridge Village of Tyler as an expression of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | high regard from the Texas Senate. |
