| 6 | 10 | | the campus of Howard University; the organization strives to |

| 7 | 11 | | promote academic excellence, provide scholarships, support |

| 8 | 12 | | communities, strengthen African American families, and encourage |
|---|
| 9 | 13 | | civic and political awareness and participation in the |
|---|
| 10 | 14 | | establishment of sound public policy; and |
|---|
| 11 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Donna was inducted into Delta Sigma Theta |
|---|
| 12 | 16 | | Sorority in 1972; over the years, she has remained a loyal member |
|---|
| 13 | 17 | | of the sorority and has served as a mentor and role model to |
|---|
| 14 | 18 | | countless sisters; and |
|---|
| 15 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Donna is truly deserving of recognition for her |
|---|
| 16 | 20 | | longtime membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and for the |
|---|
| 17 | 21 | | important role she has played in helping the organization carry |
|---|
| 18 | 22 | | out its mission of empowering people and making a difference in |
|---|
| 19 | 23 | | Black communities; now, therefore, be it |

| 20 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

| 21 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Donna Sue Edwards on her many |

| 22 | 26 | | achievements and extend to her congratulations on being honored |
