55 WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew
66 to a close with the passing of retired Texas Department of Public
77 Safety Trooper Brian Clint Worley on December 26, 2022, at the
88 age of 54; and
99 WHEREAS, Brian Worley was born in Denton on March 11, 1968,
1010 to Fred and Sue Worley, and he grew up with four siblings, Hapi,
1111 Shane, Tyson, and Misty; he graduated in 1987 from Rains High
1212 School, where he was a star basketball, baseball, track, and
1313 football athlete and the recipient of All-District honors; and
1414 WHEREAS, Following his completion of the Kilgore College
1515 Police Academy in 1991, Mr. Worley began his law enforcement
1616 career with the Mount Pleasant Police Department; he was honored
1717 with multiple commendations during his tenure, and he received a
1818 Life Saving Award, as well as the District Commander's Award; he
1919 also initiated the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, and he
2020 was involved with the Juvenile Gang Intervention Task Unit; and
2121 WHEREAS, Mr. Worley subsequently graduated from the Texas
2222 Department of Public Safety Trooper Training Academy, and he was
2323 first stationed in Cooper in 1996 and then in Sulphur Springs;
2424 highly respected, he was named Trooper of the Year in 1998, and he
2525 garnered the DPS Chief's Award for his actions that resulted in
2626 criminal arrests and drug seizures; additionally, he was
2727 commended by the FBI for his assistance in the apprehension of
2828 counterfeit currency; he retired from DPS in 2009; and
2929 WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Worley was a loving and
3030 devoted father to his two treasured children, Emily and Caden; he
3131 also adored his dogs, Buster, Buddy, and Puppy, as well as his
3232 horses, Legacy and Jasper; he was a man of great faith, and he
3333 endeared himself to others with his warm and caring nature; and
3434 WHEREAS, Although Brian Worley is deeply missed, memories
3535 of his kindness, his strength, and his dedication to his family
3636 and his fellow citizens remain to comfort and inspire those he
3737 leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
3838 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3939 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Brian Clint
4040 Worley and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his
4141 family: to his daughter, Emily Diane Worley; to his son, Caden
4242 Matthew Worley; to the mother of his children, Kelly Worley; to
4343 his parents, Fred and Sue Worley; to his brothers, Shane Worley
4444 and Tyson Worley; to his sister, Misty Mattson; to his
4545 brother-in-law, Jay Mattson; to his sister-in-law, Jennifer
4646 Worley; to his nieces and nephews, Jacob Singleman, Trenton
4747 Worley, Ty Mattson, Kennedy Worley, Brooks Worley, and Cannon
4848 Worley; to his special friend, Keith Kenemore; and to all others
4949 who mourn his passing; and, be it further
5050 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
5151 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
5252 this day, it do so in memory of Brian Worley.
