5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew |

6 | 6 | | to a close with the passing of retired Texas Department of Public |

7 | 7 | | Safety Trooper Brian Clint Worley on December 26, 2022, at the |
---|
8 | 8 | | age of 54; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Brian Worley was born in Denton on March 11, 1968, |
---|
10 | 10 | | to Fred and Sue Worley, and he grew up with four siblings, Hapi, |
---|
11 | 11 | | Shane, Tyson, and Misty; he graduated in 1987 from Rains High |
---|
12 | 12 | | School, where he was a star basketball, baseball, track, and |
---|
13 | 13 | | football athlete and the recipient of All-District honors; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Following his completion of the Kilgore College |
---|
15 | 15 | | Police Academy in 1991, Mr. Worley began his law enforcement |
---|
16 | 16 | | career with the Mount Pleasant Police Department; he was honored |
---|
17 | 17 | | with multiple commendations during his tenure, and he received a |
---|
18 | 18 | | Life Saving Award, as well as the District Commander's Award; he |
---|
19 | 19 | | also initiated the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, and he |
---|
20 | 20 | | was involved with the Juvenile Gang Intervention Task Unit; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Worley subsequently graduated from the Texas |
---|
22 | 22 | | Department of Public Safety Trooper Training Academy, and he was |
---|
23 | 23 | | first stationed in Cooper in 1996 and then in Sulphur Springs; |
---|
24 | 24 | | highly respected, he was named Trooper of the Year in 1998, and he |
---|
25 | 25 | | garnered the DPS Chief's Award for his actions that resulted in |
---|
26 | 26 | | criminal arrests and drug seizures; additionally, he was |
---|
27 | 27 | | commended by the FBI for his assistance in the apprehension of |
---|
28 | 28 | | counterfeit currency; he retired from DPS in 2009; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Worley was a loving and |
---|
30 | 30 | | devoted father to his two treasured children, Emily and Caden; he |
---|
31 | 31 | | also adored his dogs, Buster, Buddy, and Puppy, as well as his |
---|
32 | 32 | | horses, Legacy and Jasper; he was a man of great faith, and he |
---|
33 | 33 | | endeared himself to others with his warm and caring nature; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Although Brian Worley is deeply missed, memories |
---|
35 | 35 | | of his kindness, his strength, and his dedication to his family |
---|
36 | 36 | | and his fellow citizens remain to comfort and inspire those he |
---|
37 | 37 | | leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
39 | 39 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Brian Clint |
---|
40 | 40 | | Worley and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his |

41 | 41 | | family: to his daughter, Emily Diane Worley; to his son, Caden |

42 | 42 | | Matthew Worley; to the mother of his children, Kelly Worley; to |

43 | 43 | | his parents, Fred and Sue Worley; to his brothers, Shane Worley |

44 | 44 | | and Tyson Worley; to his sister, Misty Mattson; to his |
