26 WHEREAS, Character.org has designated nine campuses of
37 Harmony Public Schools as 2023 State Schools of Character; and
48 WHEREAS, A national nonprofit organization based in
59 Washington, D.C., Character.org was established in 1993 with the
610 goal of inspiring, educating, and empowering students to become
711 ethical and compassionate citizens; the organization annually
8- certifies schools and school districts that demonstrate a
9- dedicated focus on achieving that goal; and
12+ certifies schools and school districts that demonstrate a dedicated
13+ focus on achieving that goal; and
1014 WHEREAS, Harmony Public Schools is a public charter school
1115 system with campuses serving students in prekindergarten through
12- the 12th grade in 23 cities across Texas; its curriculum centers
13- on STEM skills, character education, project-based learning, and
16+ the 12th grade in 23 cities across Texas; its curriculum centers on
17+ STEM skills, character education, project-based learning, and
1418 college readiness; and
1519 WHEREAS, The nine Harmony campuses recognized by
16- Character.org as 2023 State Schools of Character are Harmony
17- School of Achievement-Houston, Harmony School of
18- Excellence-Laredo, Harmony School of Exploration-Houston,
19- Harmony School of Fine Arts & Technology-Houston, Harmony School
20- of Innovation-Dallas, Harmony School of Science-El Paso, Harmony
21- Science Academy-Dallas High, Harmony Science Academy-El Paso,
22- and Harmony Science Academy-Houston; of the nearly 130,000
23- public and private schools in the U.S., only 73 earned
24- certification, including only 15 in Texas; and
20+ Character.org as 2023 State Schools of Character are Harmony School
21+ of Achievement-Houston, Harmony School of Excellence-Laredo,
22+ Harmony School of Exploration-Houston, Harmony School of Fine Arts &
23+ Technology-Houston, Harmony School of Innovation-Dallas, Harmony
24+ School of Science-El Paso, Harmony Science Academy-Dallas High,
25+ Harmony Science Academy-El Paso, and Harmony Science
26+ Academy-Houston; of the nearly 130,000 public and private schools
27+ in the U.S., only 73 earned certification, including only 15 in

2529 WHEREAS, 13 other Harmony campuses previously earned the
26- honor, which remains with schools for five years after
27- designation; among them are Harmony School of
28- Advancement-Houston, Harmony School of Excellence-Houston,
29- Harmony School of Innovation-Garland, Harmony School of
30- Innovation-Sugar Land, Harmony Science Academy-Dallas Middle,
31- Harmony Science Academy-Cedar Park, Harmony Science
32- Academy-Pflugerville, Harmony School of Innovation-Fort Worth,
33- Harmony Science Academy-Garland, Harmony School of
34- Endeavor-Houston, Harmony School of Innovation-Houston, Harmony
35- School of Science-Houston, and Harmony School of
36- Innovation-Katy; moreover, 37 others were listed as emerging
37- character campuses or received honorable mention status; and
30+ honor, which remains with schools for five years after designation;
31+ among them are Harmony School of Advancement-Houston, Harmony
32+ School of Excellence-Houston, Harmony School of
33+ Innovation-Garland, Harmony School of Innovation-Sugar Land,
34+ Harmony Science Academy-Dallas Middle, Harmony Science

3842 WHEREAS, By creating learning environments that promote
39- positive values and personal growth, Harmony schools are
40- providing their students with important instruction that will
41- serve them well throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
42- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
43- Legislature, hereby congratulate nine Harmony Public Schools
44- campuses on receiving 2023 State Schools of Character
45- designation from Character.org and extend to all those
46- associated with the school system sincere best wishes for
47- continued success; and, be it further
43+ positive values and personal growth, Harmony schools are providing
44+ their students with important instruction that will serve them well
45+ throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
46+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
47+ hereby congratulate nine Harmony Public Schools campuses on
48+ receiving 2023 State Schools of Character designation from
49+ Character.org and extend to all those associated with the school
50+ system sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
51+ further
4852 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
49- prepared for Harmony Public Schools as an expression of high
50- regard from the Texas Senate.
