7 | 7 | | Charles, who died in the line of duty on December 31, 2021, at the |

8 | 8 | | age of 31; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on November 23, 1990, to Mike and |
---|
10 | 10 | | Lynda Charles, Mr. Charles grew up in Scurry, and he was a member |
---|
11 | 11 | | of the Class of 2009 at Scurry-Rosser High School; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Charles embarked on his career as a |
---|
13 | 13 | | firefighter and paramedic in College Station, and he served as a |
---|
14 | 14 | | field training officer for the city's fire department; he was |
---|
15 | 15 | | also a paramedic with the College Station Medical Center, a |
---|
16 | 16 | | paramedic instructor for the Texas A&M Engineering Extension |
---|
17 | 17 | | Service, and the lead paramedic for Texas A&M University |
---|
18 | 18 | | Emergency Medical Services; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In September 2019, Mr. Charles joined the |
---|
20 | 20 | | Lewisville Fire Department, and at the time of his death, he was |
---|
21 | 21 | | serving as a firefighter, paramedic, field training officer, and |
---|
22 | 22 | | mentor; a dedicated public servant who went above and beyond in |
---|
23 | 23 | | behalf of his fellow citizens, he also worked as a CareFlite |
---|
24 | 24 | | paramedic, and he was a member of the Lewisville Professional |
---|
25 | 25 | | Firefighters Association Local No. 3606 of the International |
---|
26 | 26 | | Association of Fire Fighters; in his leisure time, he enjoyed |
---|
27 | 27 | | such activities as playing golf, hunting, and going to the |
---|
28 | 28 | | shooting range; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Charles shared a rewarding marriage with his |
---|
30 | 30 | | wife, the former Lauren Castleberry, and his legacy lives on with |
---|
31 | 31 | | their cherished son, Luke, who was born shortly after his |
---|
32 | 32 | | father's death; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Landun |
---|
34 | 34 | | Charles will remember the way he touched their lives with his |
---|
35 | 35 | | kindness, humor, and compassion, and he will forever hold a |
---|
36 | 36 | | treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
38 | 38 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Landun Wayne |

39 | 39 | | Charles and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: |
