55 WHEREAS, Words cannot fully express the sorrow felt at the
66 loss of Lewisville firefighter and paramedic Landun Wayne
77 Charles, who died in the line of duty on December 31, 2021, at the
88 age of 31; and
99 WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on November 23, 1990, to Mike and
1010 Lynda Charles, Mr. Charles grew up in Scurry, and he was a member
1111 of the Class of 2009 at Scurry-Rosser High School; and
1212 WHEREAS, Mr. Charles embarked on his career as a
1313 firefighter and paramedic in College Station, and he served as a
1414 field training officer for the city's fire department; he was
1515 also a paramedic with the College Station Medical Center, a
1616 paramedic instructor for the Texas A&M Engineering Extension
1717 Service, and the lead paramedic for Texas A&M University
1818 Emergency Medical Services; and
1919 WHEREAS, In September 2019, Mr. Charles joined the
2020 Lewisville Fire Department, and at the time of his death, he was
2121 serving as a firefighter, paramedic, field training officer, and
2222 mentor; a dedicated public servant who went above and beyond in
2323 behalf of his fellow citizens, he also worked as a CareFlite
2424 paramedic, and he was a member of the Lewisville Professional
2525 Firefighters Association Local No. 3606 of the International
2626 Association of Fire Fighters; in his leisure time, he enjoyed
2727 such activities as playing golf, hunting, and going to the
2828 shooting range; and
2929 WHEREAS, Mr. Charles shared a rewarding marriage with his
3030 wife, the former Lauren Castleberry, and his legacy lives on with
3131 their cherished son, Luke, who was born shortly after his
3232 father's death; and
3333 WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Landun
3434 Charles will remember the way he touched their lives with his
3535 kindness, humor, and compassion, and he will forever hold a
3636 treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3838 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Landun Wayne
3939 Charles and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family:
4040 to his wife, Lauren Charles; to his son, Luke Wayne Charles; to
4141 his parents, Mike and Lynda Charles; to his brothers, Johnathan
4242 Charles and his wife, Angela, and Marcus Charles, and his wife,
4343 Emily; to his grandmother, Darlene Archer; and to all who mourn
4444 his passing; and, be it further
4545 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4646 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4747 this day, it do so in memory of Landun Charles.
