66 WHEREAS, The Holliday High School girls' cross country team
77 proved itself the finest 3A squad in Texas by winning the 2021
88 University Interscholastic League state championship; and
99 WHEREAS, The Lady Eagles matched up against the top high
1010 school competitors in Texas at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on
1111 November 5, 2021; under the guidance of head coach Glenn Griffin,
1212 the Holliday runners dominated the field in the 3A competition,
1313 finishing with 39 points to capture the fourth title in school
1414 history; and
1515 WHEREAS, Holliday was paced by Hannah Spears, who claimed the
1616 individual championship with a time of 11 minutes, 34.9 seconds;
1717 she was followed by Jaycee Lyons in 9th place at 12:05.30 and by
1818 Simone Mouras in 11th place at 12:09.30; also contributing to the
1919 team's exceptional showing were Kyla Coheley, who clocked in at
2020 12:23.00, Jaci Shepherd, who finished in 12:40.10, Breagan Blowers,
2121 who completed the course in 12:47.10, and Briar Griffin, who posted
2222 a time of 13:09.60; and
2323 WHEREAS, The talented student-athletes of the Lady Eagle
2424 cross country team have distinguished themselves through their
2525 skill, hard work, and enduring commitment to excellence, and they
2626 will cherish their memories of their state title triumph for the
2727 rest of their lives; now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
2929 hereby congratulate the Holliday High School girls' cross country
3030 team on winning the 2021 UIL 3A state championship and extend to the
3131 team's runners, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
3232 continued success; and, be it further
3333 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3434 prepared for the Lady Eagles as an expression of high regard by the
3535 Texas Senate.
