 SENATE RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Phi Kappa Chi fraternity on the occasion of its 35th
 anniversary; and
 WHEREAS, Phi Kappa Chi was established in 1988 at Baylor
 University as a fraternity centered on the values of brotherhood
 and faith; founded by two university students, Ty Bollinger and
 Trent Hampton, the fraternity was conceived as an alternative to
 the fraternities available at Baylor; and
 WHEREAS, The fraternity's founders chose the name Philos
 Kruxos Christos to represent the organization's core values of
 brotherhood and unity through Christian faith; on January 26,
 1988, the original 12 members of Phi Kappa Chi held their first
 meeting at the Hankamer School of Business, and on April 21,
 1988, Phi Kappa Chi was granted an official charter by Baylor
 University; and
 WHEREAS, Over the years, the fraternity has undertaken a
 wide array of responsibilities in service to the community, and
 its members have continued to support the fraternity's cardinal
 principles of academic, spiritual, physical, and social
 improvement through service; Phi Kappa Chi has contributed
 immeasurably to the Baylor community, and it is truly fitting
 that the fraternity be recognized on the occasion of its 35th
 anniversary; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
 Legislature, hereby commend the members of Phi Kappa Chi
 fraternity on their commitment to brotherhood, scholarship,
 service, and spiritual growth and extend to them best wishes for
 a memorable 35th anniversary celebration; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas
 Senate.
