| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Phi Kappa Chi fraternity on the occasion of its 35th |

| 4 | 4 | | anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Phi Kappa Chi was established in 1988 at Baylor |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | University as a fraternity centered on the values of brotherhood |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and faith; founded by two university students, Ty Bollinger and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Trent Hampton, the fraternity was conceived as an alternative to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the fraternities available at Baylor; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The fraternity's founders chose the name Philos |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Kruxos Christos to represent the organization's core values of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | brotherhood and unity through Christian faith; on January 26, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 1988, the original 12 members of Phi Kappa Chi held their first |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | meeting at the Hankamer School of Business, and on April 21, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 1988, Phi Kappa Chi was granted an official charter by Baylor |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | University; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, the fraternity has undertaken a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | wide array of responsibilities in service to the community, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | its members have continued to support the fraternity's cardinal |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | principles of academic, spiritual, physical, and social |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | improvement through service; Phi Kappa Chi has contributed |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | immeasurably to the Baylor community, and it is truly fitting |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | that the fraternity be recognized on the occasion of its 35th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | anniversary; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of Phi Kappa Chi |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | fraternity on their commitment to brotherhood, scholarship, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | service, and spiritual growth and extend to them best wishes for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | a memorable 35th anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 31 | 31 | | the organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas |
